Two Channel Vibration Sensor V4 Datasheet

Device Overview

Introducing NCD’s Two Channel Vibration Sensor Gen4. Lightweight rugged and reliable for accurate asset monitoring and boasting up to a 2-mile range using a wireless mesh networking architecture & Incorporating a 16-bit Vibration and integrated Temperature sensor.

This sensor combines these data with temperature data in a data packet, and transmits the result to modems and gateways within wireless range.  Once transmission is complete, the vibration sensor goes back to sleep, thus minimizing power consumption.

Features:

  • Small & lightweight for ease of installation.
  • IP65 rated sealed enclosure for dust &
    moisture protection.
  • Metal probe housing for durability in harsh industrial environments.
  • A versatile user-configurable sample rate for slow or fast-running machines
  • Integrated temperature sensor in base.
  • In-Built Machine Learning optimizes power consumption.
  • Asset On-Time Calculator automatically tracks operational status.
  • Hardware Accelerator enhances vibration sampling accuracy.
  • Available Frequencies – 900Mhz, 868Mhz, and 2.4Ghz
  • Supports MESH networking via DigiMesh
  • Fully open Node-RED library for configuration and data ingestion

Status LED

The Status LED is used to indicate errors or other sensor diagnostics.

LED blinks once – Message was sent successfully and no error in last sensor read as well in data transmission.

LED blinks twice and then one more time – Message was sent successfully but there was an error in last sensor read.

LED blinks thrice – MCU is having issue communicating with the radio module.

Power Requirements and Expected Battery Life

Power Requirements

While changing the batteries:

  1. Turn off the sensor
  2. Only use a new D-cell battery (obtain one from NCD, as it has a built in supercapacitor, this is not a regular battery).
  3. Make sure to align the connector in the proper orientation (this will assure you match the polarity)
  4. The battery should not be replaced in fire-risky areas
  5. Do NOT install a rechargeable battery
