Mechanical Relay Types

General Purpose SPDT Relays

The SPDT relays we use in our devices are designed for an exceptionally long life, with over 10,000,000 operational cycles when used within electrical specifications.  We use Panasonic NAIS for our 5-Amp controllers and Omron for our 10-Amp controllers.  We have a 20-year track-record with these relays, and we are confident they can be used in most switching applications with excellent reliability.  General Purpose relays are not ideally suited for low-power switching applications, so please be sure to choose a signal relay when working with low power signals, such as audio, video, or telecommunications.

Relay: 5A SPDT

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain “5” excluding DPDT variants.  This is a general purpose relay ideal for power switching applications with a Warranty rating of 5A at 24VDC or 5A at 250VAC.  This relay should not be used for low-power signal switching applications, as the contacts on this relay are optimized for power applications.  Low power signals, such as audio, will appear to be faulty if this relay is chosen.

Relay: 10A SPDT

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain “10”.  This is a general purpose relay ideal for power switching applications with a Warranty rating of 10A at 24VDC or 10A at 250VAC.  This relay should not be used for low-power signal switching applications, as the contacts on this relay are optimized for power applications.  Low power signals, such as audio, will appear to be faulty if this relay is chosen.

DPDT Relays

DPDT Relays are common in many of our products, as they consist of two SPDT switches that activate simultaneously.  This allows the switching of two completely separate signals using a single relay.  DPDT relays are popular for signal switching applications, such as audio, telecommunications, and other types of low-power switches.  Below you will find the DPDT relays we use in our controllers.

Relay: 1A DPDT

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain 1DPDT.  This is a small DPDT signal relay useful for telecommunications switching applications.  Warranty rating is 1 Amp at 12VDC.

Datasheet:1a_dpdt_d2n

Relay: 3A DPDT

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain 3DPDT.  This is signal relay useful for telecommunications, audio, and other low-power signal applications.  Warranty rating is 3 Amps at 24VDC.

Datasheet: 3a_dpdt_jw

Relay: 5A DPDT

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain 5DPDT.  This is a signal relay useful for telecommunications, high-power audio, and other high-power signal switching applications.  Warranty rating is 5 Amps at 24VDC.

High-Power Relays

If you need to switch high-power loads, we have controllers with a proven track-record of reliability.  We offer 3 variations, depending on your needs, up to 30 Amps.  These relays are ideal for switching lights, motors, pumps, valves, and other high-power loads when used with induction suppression capacitors.

Relay: 20A HP SPDT

Note: This relay has a contact rating of 20A between Common and Normally Open and 10A between Common and Normally Closed.

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain “HP”.

Datasheet: 20hp_jtnjt

Relay: 20A SPDT

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain “20”.  This is a 20 Amp relay with a 20 Amp contact rating.  This relay is of the SPDT variety, and is commonly used in high-power switching applications.

Datasheet: 20a_30a_g8pt_0607

Relay: 30A SPST

Usage: Used in all part numbers that contain “30”.  This is a high-power relay with a 30 Amp contact rating.  Note this relay only has two contacts: Common and Normally Open.

Specialty Relays

We manufacture specialty relay controllers for many companies, so if you don’t find exactly what you are looking for, we can make it for you.  We are also able to manufacture controllers with relay commons connections tied together, specialty connectors, metal enclosures, and even full-color metal enclosure and circuit board printing.  Just let us know what you need, we will build it for you!

1A SPST Reed Relays

Usage: This reed relay is rarely used in our product line, but does occur in some older products.  This relay is ideal for extremely low power signals, such as line level audio or video.  Low-power signals are extremely clean when switched with this relay.  The Warranty rating on this relay is 1A at 12VDC.
