NCD Long Range Wireless Relays
Our Industrial Relay Controllers all have a swappable communication interface. Simply choose S3B when you add an item to your cart and make sure you have an S3B Modem to talk to it.
28 Miles may seem like overkill, but in a densely populated environment full of metal or concrete obstructions, electro-magnetic interference, or outdoor installations that 28 Miles can quickly be cut down to a few thousand feet. Compare that to a standard 300 foot range that can be cut to a few dozen in real world environments and you can immediately see the benefits. Reliable communications with self healing mesh network capabilities make S3B a great choice for any form of industrial or remote application.
What is Mesh Networking?
Mesh Networking of wireless communications helps to ensure reliable and longer range communications. To put it simply if one device can’t communicate back to the modem then it tells the other devices around it to pass on its message. If these devices are out of range of the modem they tell the devices around them to pass it on until it gets back to the modem. This makes it ideal for high reliability communications especially in applications where conditions may change such as outdoors or in a warehouse.
Why Choose NCD?
With NCD you know you have a proven reliable, easy to use, and extensible product. This means you don’t have to spend valuable time researching how to jig-saw pieces of your project together to get them to work cohesively. Being manufactured in the U.S.A. you know you’ll get good support and a quality product. NCD also ensures you won’t have to put any time into soldering or building a PCB, just pick your boards and power them up. Just knowing that every sensor, relay controller, and component is built around the same concept will save you guess work on how well software will work with any board.
How It Works
Long-Range Wireless Mesh networking is our favorite of all wireless communication technologies. This communication module will hop data from one location to another to reach its intended destination. Data hopping is a integrated feature of this communication technology, users do not need to do anything other than make sure wireless modules stay within hopping range of each other. We use the Digi 900HP-S3B module in our products, as this is the best the industry has to offer. With a 2 mile range between modules and up to 8 hops, it is possible to cover 16 miles of wireless territory using this technology. Using high-gain antennas, this module is capable of communicating to a remote module up to 28 miles away.
S3B Modules
Digi XBee-PRO 900HP embedded modules provide best-in-class range wireless connectivity to devices. They take advantage of the DigiMesh® networking protocol, featuring dense network operation and support for sleeping routers, and are also available in a proprietary point-to-multipoint configuration. Supporting RF line-of-sight ranges up to 28 miles (with high-gain antennas), and data rates of up to 200 Kbps, these modules are ideal for extended-range applications requiring increased data throughput.
The Digi XBee-PRO 900HP requires no programming and can be configured easily using Digi’s free XCTU software or via a simplified AT command set. Digi XBee modules are pre-certified for use in multiple countries, further reducing development costs and time to market.
Digi XBee® modules are easy to use, share a common hardware footprint and are available in a variety of different protocols, enabling users to substitute one Digi XBee for another with minimal development time and risk.
